This course is an introduction to ecology as a scientific discipline with an emphasis on plants, covering ecological principles on how plant populations and communities interact with their environment at local, regional and global scale. The course is complemented with a laboratory which emphasizes the identification of common plants, vegetation types, and ecosystems of the region, and introduces students with hypothesis testing through field experiments.
